In line with its goal to improve people’s health and quality of life, Cantabria Labs, in partnership with Real Madrid C.F., presented today its new global “Train Your Skin” campaign. It first launched its initiative  last season with the aim of raising awareness about  the importance of taking care of skin and promoting  healthy  sun exposure.

The new campaign presents the players who will take the spotlight this year: ,  midfielders Luka Modric and Fede Valverde and centre-back Antonio Rüdiger of the  men’s first team . It shows the players training while protecting their skin against the sun with Cantabria Labs’ Heliocare 360º range.

With this campaign, inspired by  innovation and medical science, the pharmaceutical laboratory  highlights the dual concept of “training”, explaining how both practice and perseverance can help achieve success in the form of healthy skin. It also reflects the vision and shared values of Cantabria Labs and Real Madrid (passion, effort, desire to excel…) where each and every achievement motivates them to rise to new challenges.

The campaign features various audiovisual pieces which will be streaming as of today across  Cantabria Labs and Real Madrid digital channels and platforms.

Train Your Skin is a part of the “Give Your All for What Matters: Protect Yourself from the Sun” campaign that Cantabria Labs first launched in the spring of 2020 together  with its ambassador, tennis champ Rafa Nadal, to raise awareness  about the importance of caring for skin health and protecting skin against the harmful effects of the sun.

Cantabria Labs has now embarked on its second season as a global sponsor for Real Madrid, part of a three-year agreement  whereby the club, through both its  men’s and women’s teams, helps  strengthen the visibility and international recognition of the Cantabria Labs brand, increaing  the reach of its  dermatology ranges Heliocare (sun protection) through the men’s and women’s Real Madrid squads, and Endocare (facial care) and Elancyl (body care) through  the Real Madrid women’s squad, and further consolidating its commitment to caring for skin health.

During the first season of its partnership, Cantabria Labs successfully  implemented the campaign developed  with Real Madrid to increase its global visibility through the  participation of its  subsidiaries (Spain, Italy, France, Mexico, Portugal, China, the US and Morocco) and partners around the world. The Train Your Skin campaign was implemented primarily  on digital channels, where it reached almost 200 million views.

Following the launch of this season’s new campaign, Cantabria Labs CEO and Managing Director Susana Rodríguez looked back on results achieved and commented: “We are thrilled to have shared this first season with Real Madrid, a team that shares our non-conformist spirit and commitment to teamwork. The collaboration has given Cantabria Labs a unique platform to jointly spread our awareness-raising message about the importance of skin care and step up our presence at a global level”.

Cantabria Labs, a leading company in topical and oral sunprotection, has been raising awareness about the harmful effects of solar radiation together  with leading  scientific and medical institutions, dermatologists and pharmacists for over 25 years. With the spotlight always on innovation and entrereneurship, every year the laboratory strives to boost the reach of its annual prevention and awareness campaigns, such as “Objective Zero Melanoma”, by which it hopes to win the battle, year by year, against melanoma.

This year Cantabria Labs joined the “Todos Contra el Cáncer” (United Against Cancer) campaign, deemed  an Event of Special Public Interest and initiated  by the Spanish Association Against Cancer to help promote awareness, prevention, research and care for people with cancer.

• The Spanish tennis ace is the face of the “Give Your All for What Matters never to the Sun” campaign together with Cantabria Labs and HELIOCARE, aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle in the sun
• The 12-times French Open champion says he didn’t always set the best example when it comes to sun care habits, but “it’s never too late to change” with the aid of HELIOCARE

Cantabria Labs and HELIOCARE present their awareness campaign featuring Rafa Nadal, “Give Your All for What Matters never to the Sun” , with the aim of sensitising people to the need to look after their skin to prevent damage from sun exposure and bigger problems further down the line. The campaign comes at a crucial moment. Now more than ever we need to be aware of the importance of staying protected. Health professionals say that being sheltered indoors for some time means our skin isn’t ready for the intensity of sunshine it is about to get.

Rafa Nadal with Heliocare

HOW NOT TO GIVE YOUR ALL TO THE SUN

HELIOCARE, the advanced medical sunscreen brand, stresses the importance of good sun protection not just through topical products that provide broad-spectrum protection and repair sun damage but also capsules to boost resistance to the sun and protect you from the inside.

FERNBLOCK®, the patented active ingredient exclusive to HELIOCARE, has 25 years of proven experience and over 60 studies of scientific evidence endorsing the way it acts on and repairs sun damage at cell level. “I’m going to keep on giving it my all on court, but not to the sun,” Rafa Nadal said. “I’ve spent my fair share of time outdoors and hope to keep doing so. But my dermatologist made me take a good, hard look at my lifestyle and now I want to do better and include some healthy habits into my daily routines.”

“I can’t keep on neglecting my skin. I trust HELIOCARE because it’s the most advanced medical sunscreen both for creams and its HELIOCARE ORAL capsules. I think they’re a huge step forward for a person like me who sweats so much and spends so much time out in the sun,” said the 19-times Grand Slam title winner.

Different types of audiovisual content will be published over the next few months in which Rafa Nadal will send messages related to the importance of good sun protection. He will also emphasise the need to visit your dermatologist and consult your pharmacist, since they are crucial to effective skin-cancer prevention.
The end goal is to promote sun routines and habits that help fight the 78,000-plus cases of skin cancer every year, especially since the intensity of the sun is climbing all the time (up 2.3% in the past decade).

With this campaign HELIOCARE and Rafa Nadal demonstrate a shared take on life. Rafa acknowledges he throws himself fully into everything he does:

“I try to give it my all no matter what I do. Throwing everything at it goes to the heart of who I am. For me it’s what makes sense of things.”

This is a philosophy very much in keeping with Cantabria Labs’, which operates in over 80 countries around the world and has become the dermatological prescription benchmark in Europe (leader in Spain, Italy and Portugal).

Cantabria Labs has signed an agreement with the Majorcan athlete Rafa Nadal whereby the tennis player will help promote HELIOCARE’S expert advice and proposals for healthy sun exposure to help prevent skin diseases and encourage correct oral and topical sun protection.

The agreement also includes the Rafa Nadal Foundation, which organises sporting and educational projects for children and young people, as well as the Rafa Nadal Tour by Mapfre junior tennis circuit. The synergic collaboration also includes the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar, a high-level tennis training centre in Manacor, Mallorca, that has already become a worldwide point of reference where more than 130 players from around the world follow tennis, academic and human training and development. Heliocare products will also be present at the Rafa Nadal Sports Centre, a multi-sport centre with state-of-the-art facilities for swimming, fitness, paddle tennis, cycling and triathlon.

All these initiatives involve thousands of young people and athletes who have to take special care of their skin since, as dermatologists say, “skin has a memory”. 80% of sun damage occurs before the age of 18, so it is expected that this project will help reduce sun-induced damage through the effect of these programmes in particular, and more generally, through the figure and example of Rafa Nadal.

“For Cantabria Labs to be able to count on Rafa as an ambassador for healthy sun exposure and outdoor lifestyle, and the importance of skin care, is a great opportunity. We want people to help increase awareness, like Rafa, of the importance of knowing the harmful effects of the sun, how dermatologists as experts can help you take proper care of your skin and the role of pharmacists in providing the necessary advice for 360º oral and topical sun protection”, said Juan Matji, President of the pharmaceutical laboratory.

“Because of my sporting activity, I know I have exposed my skin to sun damage as I didn’t always follow good sun protection habits, but I think it’s never too late to do things better and both dermatologists and Cantabria Labs with HELIOCARE are the ones who I believe can help me improve my habits and transmit to others these best practices to prevent and repair sun damage” commented Rafa Nadal on signing the agreement.

“360º sun protection with both oral capsules and topical sunscreen are ideal for me with my lifestyle. I already used sunscreen , but with sweating, not reapplying, and the length of the matches, I now know it wasn’t enough”, added the player.

With the help of Rafa, Cantabria Labs hopes to increase public awareness of the importance of good sun exposure habits and reach more people in a meangful way every year through its awareness campaigns for the prevention of skin diseases through the adoption of good habits and good oral and topical sun protection.

“Don’t get cooked” is the latest Heliocare campaign to promote the importance of good outdoor activity and lifestyle habits. It encourages, amongst other things, the use of oral and topical sun protection and notes that the sun doesn’t just come out in summer, but that we are exposed to it all year long. The Paralympian, Sara Andrés, was front line in presenting the initiative to the media at an event in April in Madrid.

In the coming months, the initiatives of Cantabria Labs and its new ally will be unveiled, with the objective of preventing serious skin problems and the commitment of Cantabria Labs to improve health and quality of life through entrepreneurship, innovation and closeness as its hallmarks.

With the sponsorship of Cantabria Labs, the MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) Museum is hosting “The Beautiful Brain”, the largest international exhibition to feature the work of Spanish neuroscientist and Nobel Prize winner in Physiology and Medicine Santiago Ramon y Cajal focusing on the brain and brain cells. It will be open to the public at the university campus from 3 May – 31 December 2018, after which it will tour several other North American universities for a two year period.

The exhibition, ‘The Beautiful Brain: The Drawings of Santiago Ramón y Cajal’, is a collection of 80 drawings, some of which have never been seen before in North America, and photographs, landmark books and scientific instruments. The exhibition drawings were selected based on their scientific and aesthetic importance by a jury composed of neuroscientists from the University of Minnesota and historians from the Weisman Art Museum.

Santiago Ramon y Cajal combined science and art to demonstrate that brain tissue was composed of individual cells. He depicted all his research in drawings and years later, in 1950, thanks to the advances in microscope technology, his theories were proven correct and he became the father of modern neuroscience.

Cantabria Labs has endorsed this MIT initiative with the aim of helping research by Santiago Ramon y Cajal, fundamental for the development of medicine and of great intellectual value, to continue to tour the world to inspire more people and bring them closer to science.

Apart from supporting this initiative, Cantabria Labs sponsors and promotes biomedical innovation programs and activities at the MIT through a three-year agreement signed in 2017.
